My Mini Labradoodle: Buddy’s Favorite Things

Last year will forever be the year that I adopted my mini labradoodle. His name is Buddy, and he’s the sweetest, friendliest dog you’ll ever meet.

Before getting him, I had been debating and thinking about getting a dog for months. It had been over 2 years, since my previous dog passed away, and I just couldn’t decide if I was ready. Could I handle training a puppy? Should I adopt or go to a breeder? Where would the dog spend his days, while I was at work?

Finally, I had made up my mind that whatever came up, I would make the commitment and figure it out. I just didn’t know which dog would be THE ONE. A week later, my sister texted me to let me know that her friend was rehoming their 8 year old mini labradoodle. She had thought of me and connected us. I went to meet him that same day, and had more meet ups over the course of a week, before he came home with me.

It has been a joy to “figure things out” with Buddy, and today, we are sharing some of his favorite things. Since he was an older dog when I got him, he already had favorite toys and treats, but I did have to invest in some things, too. Here’s a list of our favorite mini labradoodle things, with clickable links to each product:

1) Hartz DuraPlay Ball

These balls are a long-time favorite for Buddy. He can catch them mid-air and loves playing fetch with them. I think he likes that they are squishy and squeak. We have several around our home and back-ups in case one gets lost.

2) Dog Car Seat with Removable Washable Cover

We ride in the car quite a bit, so I wanted to get him a car seat with a buckle to keep him secure. He really likes this car seat, and will jump in whenever it’s time to go somewhere. I like it, because you can remove the covers and wash it, when needed. It’s also the perfect size for his 19lb body.

3) Buddy Wash

Although they share the same name, I started using Buddy Wash shampoo with my previous dogs, because I liked the scent. I highly recommend the Green Tea and Bergamot.

4) Paw Cleaner

One of the best things about Buddy is that he’s a fantastic walking partner. After mentioning to a friend that I wipe Buddy’s paws after every walk, they gifted me a Paw Cleaner for Christmas. For days when his paws get a little extra dirty, you put some water in the container and the bristles clean his paws. It also came with small microfiber towels to dry his feet.

5) Wag Wear Raincoat

We’ve had a wet winter (by Hawaii standards) and it’s likely that spring will be the same. I’m glad Buddy has this rainbreaker. It zips by the tummy and has a small hood for his head. He stays dry and looks amazing when we’re walking in the rain!

6) Tre Ponti Dog Harness

Buddy came with a Tre Ponti Mesh Buckle Harness. People always comment or ask about it. I like it, because on the rare occasion that he pulls while we’re walking, it seems much gentler on his neck area. We’ve worked on him stepping into it, when he’s asked. He’s gotten really good at it!

There you have it! Some of our favorite things for Buddy, the mini labradoodle.
