Furikake Ahi Sandwich $13.25

My mother invited us to lunch on Saturday. When asked where she wanted to eat, she quickly replied “The Alley.” Apparently she had been craving their Lemon Crunch Cake for a while. It had been over a year since we had eaten there, and we were all looking forward to getting our favorite menu items.

I got the furikake ahi sandwich, which is my usual order.  The sandwich features ahi fillets crusted in nori and sesame seeds with a creamy Thai sauce on a bun with lettuce and tomato. It came with a ton of delicously crispy french fries.

Deep Fried Pork Chop $17.50

My fiance ordered the pork chops which he described as “crispy and good.” They’re breaded Sterling Silver pork chops deep fried with garlic and black pepper. He made special mention of the tasty gravy.

Tasty Chicken Bowl $11.50

My mom ordered the Tasty Chicken Bowl. The chicken is deep fried and dipped in the Alley’s secret sauce-soy sauce, garlic, and chili flakes. It’s served with rice and salad. She didn’t opt for the larger plate version of the Tasty Chicken, as she was “saving room” for dessert.

Lemon Crunch Cake $4.95

And that brings us to the star of The Alley, their famous Lemon Crunch Cake. Speaking from experience, if you want to be well-liked at any party, bring this cake with you. Even the guests who don’t eat desserts will be fighting for a piece. It’s that good. You can opt to try one of their other delicious desserts, like the pumpkin crunch or carrot cake. However, you’ll never be disappointed with this one.  There’s something about the lemony cake and the crunchy topping that make this dessert special.

Located in Aiea Bowl, you can work up an appetite bowling with friends, and then have a delicious lunch or dinner. I’m sure we’ll be back for more Lemon Crunch Cake soon!
