Business partners, Summer Shiigi of Ten Tomorrow and Allison Izu Song of Allison Izu

If you live in Hawai’i, you’ve likely heard of Allison Izu Song. She’s a local girl who attended The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, and has been designing and expanding her brand for the past decade. When she launched her brand, she designed a line of denim with petite women in mind. Over the years, her brand has expanded to include tops, dresses, rompers, and jackets. You can find her designs at her shop in Kaimuki, online, and at larger retailers like Nordstrom. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I recently visited her shop in Kaimuki to congratulate her on her brand’s 10th anniversary.IMG_7635During that same visit, I finally met Summer Shiigi, designer of Ten Tomorrow. I had heard of Summer over the years, as she had worked in the local boutique scene, working in sales and styling the most fashionable young women. I also knew that she and Allison were business partners, sharing a work and retail space in Kaimuki. I felt incredibly lucky to spend some time with both desingers on the eve of Allison’s big anniversary.   fullsizeoutput_b66.jpegThe designers have a beautiful space that feels like a large house. Each room has product that tells a different color story. I love this, since I organize my own closet by color.

The best thing about shopping from local designers, such as Allison and Summer, is that they design with the lifestyles of local women in mind. Year round, their styles and fabrics are perfect for anything from a day at the office in downtown Honolulu to a girl’s night out in Waikiki.

fullsizeoutput_b56.jpegTheir designs are also great for travel, as you can layer many of their pieces, and their fabrics are incredibly soft and comfortable. From previous purchases, I can also tell you that the quality of their clothes is excellent. They hold up after washing, without fading, shrinking, or stretching.

You may be wondering what I purchased on my recent shopping trip. I’ll drop the links below, so you can check them out on the Allison Izu and Ten Tomorrow websites:

img_7674.jpgFor Allison’s 10 year anniversary, she released 2 of her favorite denim styles in a couple of different colorways. She also did a major rebranding, taking the letters of her name and using them to illustrate the body types that she will be specifically designing for. Read her blog post to find out more about the body types and how to #LiveYourLetter. IMG_7630.JPGAlthough Allison and Summer have distinct differences in their design styles, there’s something about both brands that compliment each other well. If you’re looking to add some beautiful, quality pieces to your closet, visit them in their Kaimuki boutique!
