It’s easy to get lost among the skyscrapers and traffic of downtown Honolulu. Sometimes you need a place to reset and surround yourself with nature. Right in the middle of all the city madness is the Foster Botanical Garden. It’s a great place to meditate, have a peaceful picnic date, or explore nature for a few hours.

Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for Hawaii residents, $1 for children (ages 6-12), and children 5 and under are free. An annual family pass is $25. You can do a self-guided tour with the map provided at the entrance. Be prepared to be amazed by some truly majestic trees. They also provide a checklist that will help you identify the birds you may come across while walking through the Garden.
During the summer, the Garden hosts a weekly, early evening concert series. Check their website for a concert schedule, information about volunteering opportunities, and available classes.
