Nico’s Pier 38

garlic sesame crusted opah with Thai curry aioli, over baby spinach $13.95

After running some errands on Sunday, we decided to grab a casual lunch at Nico’s Pier 38.  It was a busy lunch hour, but we didn’t have to wait in line to order, and we found a table quickly. Nico’s is a very casual eatery, where you order at the counter, find a table, and wait for them to buzz you when your food is ready for pick up at the counter.  There’s a lot of open air seating and a full bar.

I ordered from the Lunch Specials menu and got the garlic opah with Thai curry aioli over baby spinach. It was flavorful, and the sesame seeds added a nice texture.  Let’s just say that there wasn’t a spinach leaf left in sight, when I was done with it.

My date had the beer battered fried fish with thick-cut fries and Nico’s cilantro dip.  He liked the light batter and subtle beer taste of the fish, and enjoyed it with the cilantro dip and malt vinegar. The fries were also delicious. I may have stolen a few or 10 from his plate.

Case of delicious desserts

The lemon bars and creme brulee in the dessert case were very tempting.  However, we passed on dessert this time, as we were both full from our lunches.
