Do you ever just crave donuts? Like you just need a donut fix? I’ve been thinking about donuts for a while, and am always drooling over the Instagram posts by Purvé. I’ve actually had these super popular treats at parties before, but this was my first trip to their actual shop.
Side note: Do you ever avoid a place, because you know that once you’ve been there it’ll be too easy to go back? Not only is this place conveniently located in town (near Ala Moana Shopping Center), but it has a ton of parking. I’m in trouble.
They’ve got their donut line up on display, so you can drool over them, while planning your order.
I actually went in on a Sunday, after working out at the gym. I picked up 6 donuts, including their Weekly D, a special flavor that changes every week. I brought them home and did a mini photo shoot, because they were so beautiful. I will say that the next time I’m there, I’m going to sit down at one of their tables outside and eat a donut straight away, because they’re nice and warm. You actually watch them come out of that fryer thing and see them get drizzled and topped. Let’s take a closer look at these yummies.
The Weekly D: basically a blueberry pie in donut form. This might’ve been my favorite of the bunch. How can you go wrong with a vanilla glaze, graham cracker crumbs, blueberry pie yumminess in the middle and cream cheese drizzle? Yes, it was as good as it sounds. Will have to check out more of the Weekly Ds.“It’s OK Cuz It’s Your Dog”: Peanut butter glaze drizzled with raspberry preserve. If you love peanut butter, this is your friend. Trust me.Unicorn Butt Sneeze: Lemon Glaze with Fruity Pebbles. I’m sort of a sucker for anything Fruity Pebbles. It’s a cereal rainbow for your mouth, and who doesn’t want to eat something called Unicorn Butt Sneeze?“You’re Killing Me Smalls”: The s’mores of donuts with graham cracker, chocolate, and marshamallow topped with a Teddy Graham. I said it on Instagram, and I’ll say it here…I’d like to be that Teddy Graham swimming around in marshmallow goodness.Smurf Balls: Mixed berry glaze with Captain Crunch Berries and cream cheese drizzle. Hmm..another cereal favorite. Also, such a good looking donut.Sunburnt Haole: Lemon glaze with li hing mui. That li hing always wakes up the taste buds. Such a different taste from all the others.
Bright and fun paintings throughout this shop makes it such a happy and magical place.
Lots of great merchandise for the Purvé fan, including tees, hats, and water bottles.Great little seating area outside the shop, so you can enjoy those donuts nice and fresh.
The nitty gritty: it’s $3.25 each for 1-5 donuts, $3.00 each for 6-11 donuts, and $2.75 each for 12 or more donuts. You can place an order on their website and pick it up, or just walk in and place an order in person. Have you been to Purvé? What’s your favorite donut? Let me know in the comments!
Aloha! Thank you for stopping by. If you’re looking for uncomplicated, pescatarian-friendly food, I’m your girl. I also love surrounding myself with lots and lots of plants…to eat and to grow! When I don’t feel like cooking, I check out one of the many local eateries here on O’ahu. Can’t wait to share all my favorite people, places, and foods with you!
Hard to resist, not sure which one I would choose
