I recently had dinner at Kalapawai Cafe and Deli in Kailua Town. It was suggested by 2 of my friends for our girl’s night out.  I was familiar with the green building, but I had never dined there before.

With all of the COVID dining rules, reservations were a must. There was outdoor seating at the front and back of the restaurant, as well as a few well-spaced tables on the inside.

Roasted Octopus $16

We had a nice table outside and started our dinner with a few drinks, as well as the Fire Roasted Octopus which was served with gigantes beans, romesco, frisee, chorizo with lemon, and vinaigrette. The octopus was tender and cut into perfectly sized pieces.

Seafood Curry

For dinner, I decided on the Seafood Curry from the specials menu. It was a bit spicy, but I like spicy! It had a ton of seafood, including fish, scallops, and mussels. Served with rice, I was stuffed by the end of the meal.

Gnocchi $19

One of my friends chose the house-made, gluten-free gnocchi with roasted tomato and mushroom, kale, and macadamia nut pesto. She enjoyed it, and look at how beautiful this dish was!

Kajiki with Panzanella Salad $26

My other friend ordered the kajiki (marlin) with panzanella salad. Another beautiful dish that she really enjoyed

The affogato and cheesecake were both winners for dessert!

I would recommend all of the dishes we got for dinner. Have you eaten at Kalapawai? What’s your favorite dish there? Let me know in the comments below and thank you for reading!
