We’ve been in quarantine since the end of March. I love to eat out, and I can’t wait to be able to share a meal with friends or family at one of our favorite restaurants.
My last meal at a restaurant was over 2 months ago at Opal Thai on Smith Street. It was my first time there, and it was a dining experience like no other. The owner greeted my friend and me at the front door, brought us drinks, asked us our preferences, and chose our dishes for us. Throughout the night, the owner buzzed around the restaurant, chatting with customers, taking pictures with them, and occasionally sitting down to have a drink with them, too. His energy and hospitality were warm and genuine, which is why I’m sure it was a full house that night.
Many restaurants like Opal Thai have been offering takeaway orders during this quarantine time, so we can still enjoy their delicious food.
We’ve got about a week and a half before restaurants start opening up in Hawaii. It’s time to figure out who will be open, who’s staying with takeaway, and sadly, which restaurants may not be reopening at all. Where will you be making reservations?
