I was scrolling through Instagram this morning and came across a beautiful plate of food. I was compelled to check out the Instagram page of the restaurant that it came from, and that’s how my friend and I ended up at Kaimana Farm Café tonight.
Both of us had never been here before. I made a reservation to be safe during these COVID times, but when we arrived for our 5:30 pm dinner, it was very quiet. The nicest woman helped us with our order, and the food came out promptly. Just like the pictures I had seen on Instagram, the food was beautiful.
I ordered the Pumpkin Croquette Kaimana Power Bento with brown rice. It came with 5 sides, which was a bit overwhelming when they presented all the choices, because they all sounded so delicious. Actually, I’m sure they all are delicious, so you can’t really go wrong with whatever you pick. These were my picks: Japanese lotus root, soba salad, curry potato salad, hijiki, and yuzu carrots.
EVERYTHING was delicious. I was picking up every last grain of rice and morsel of food with my chopsticks.
My friend ordered the Pork Ginger Steak. A couple of her sides were different from mine, including her pasta salad and beets. She also agreed that the sides were delicious and that it was a very filling meal.
We both had the Yuzu Iced Tea, which had the perfect amount of flavoring and was super refreshing on this hot summer day.
I would highly recommend this place to meat eaters and vegetarians, as they have great options for both. The bentos are a great deal, considering the amount of food you get and ALL THOSE SIDES you get to pick!
I look forward to going back and trying the Organic Vegan Hamburger Steak, which comes in a bento or plate lunch. The Kinako Banana Smoothie also sounded delicious.
