We made our first visit to Junpuu a little after 7pm on Saturday night. The restaurant was busy but not full, and we did not have to wait for a table. We had a comfortable, spacious tall table in the corner.

As mentioned in a previous post, I get super excited to find restaurants with a vegetarian ramen option. It means that I don’t get left out of the soupy fun! Junpuu had 2 vegetarian options on the menu-the vegetarian tomato ramen and the vegetarian tantan men. I ordered the tantan men, which came with a thinner noodle, bamboo shoots, spinach, kabocha, and cucumber. I added the ajitama egg (soft-boiled, marinated egg), which added some protein and had a subtle shoyu taste.
I didn’t specify spiciness when ordering, and the little bit of spice was perfect for me! There were also gluten free, vegan noodles available for $4 extra.

My carnivorous date had the regular tantan men, which he raved about. He thought that my soup and his soup were similar in taste, despite the lack of meat in my soup.
We both agreed that it was the perfect amount of food, leaving you content and not overstuffed.

We shared the almond tofu for dessert. Oh my goodness, it was delicious! It was creamier than the almond tofu we’re used to, and we acutally fought over the last bite. It was that good!

We’ll definitely be back for more ramen. I’d also like to try their rainbow quinoa salad, spicy cheese gyoza, and homemade potato chips.
