Coffee from Hawaii

Coffee display at Foodland Kahala MKT.

This month, Foodland Kahala MKT. is featuring coffee from Hawaii and coffee-inspired dishes and treats. I was excited to try products from 3 different Hawaii coffee companies. I also indulged in some delicious treats made by the chefs at Foodland.

I have included the websites for the various Hawaii coffee companies, in case you want to learn more about them.

Social Hour Coffee Roasters

The first coffee I tried was from Social Hour Coffee Roasters on Maui. I usually buy whole bean, as I like to grind them at home for the freshest coffee possible. I picked up a 12 oz. bag of their Vinyl coffee, which has notes of dark chocolate, graham cracker, and hazelnut.

Although the packaging didn’t state where the beans are from, they do roast their coffee on Maui and have other varieties which specifically state that they are made with Maui grown coffee.

Paired with a Mocha Crunch Bar from the chefs at Foodland, this made for an indulgent afternoon treat! The Mocha Crunch Bar ingredients included chocolate, white chocolate, cookie crumbs, puffed rice, coffee, and salt.

Next, I was excited to try the Waikiki Cafe Espresso from Kona Coffee Purveyors. Probably the most fruity of the 3 coffees I tried, it was sweet and delicious. This blend is made with beans from around the world. However, they do have several Kona grown coffees.

Kona Coffee Purveyors supplies et. al, Foodland Kahala MKT.’s restaurant, with their coffee. Be sure to order a coffee drink with your next meal!

Finally, I tried the Hawaiian Harmony from Big Island Coffee Roasters. The package indicated tasting notes of butterscotch, nutmeg, whiskey, vanilla, and cocoa. It tasted amazing with my coffee glazed chocolate donuts from the chefs at Foodland.

I tried Big Island Coffee Roasters Espresso Bites a while ago and have been wanting to try their coffee for a long time now. I’m glad I finally picked up a bag at Foodland. Check out their website for a ton of great information on coffee and their company.
